 Снова - погожий осенний денёк.
 Как же я обожаю Осень.

“Frantisek Strouhal was born in Moravia from a family of painters and artists. He currently lives in western Canada. As a creator of exquisite mixed media artwork, which he has titled “Art Embracing Awareness”, he is internationally admired for his flawless use of traditional 19th century techniques combined with his unique contemporary  yet timeless artistic vision.

The human form is essential to Strouhal’s art work which he describes as “the most universal symbol of beauty that can stir and satisfy the mind and heart.”Art Embracing Awareness” embodies the purpose of my work. One of its essential aspect explores thoughts and inspirations of an existential nature and investigates the interaction and harmony between the spiritual and the physical world. My work exists to connect with others in contemplation, and peace.  It is not static, but invites interaction. Changing with the light, it maneuvers through various conditions imparting distinctive messages at different times. Texture also plays the important role of portraying the energy and strength which emanate from beneath the surface of the subjects.

My sincere hope is that my artwork and personal stories will engage the viewer to experience a ray of serenity. 

Oil Print Process

The oil print process, whose origins go back to the mid-nineteenth century, works on the same principle as lithographic printing, which is that oil and water don’t mix. The prints are made on paper with a thick gelatin layer that has been sensitized with ammonium dichromate. Exposure using a negative for contact-printing leads to hardening of the dichromated gelatin, in direct relation of the amount of light received. After the paper is washed and dried, it gets soaked in water again. Lithography oil based ink is applied to the paper and sticks to the areas with the hardened gelatine, but the water-swollen areas of the paper repel the ink. The non-mixing character of oil and water results in a coloring of the exposed parts of the print, creating a positive image. The ink application requires considerable skill, and as a result no two prints are alike.
